How is it possible that a Victorian era detective transcends time, history, and technology to continue to fascinate the public? How is it that these stories can somehow be updated in modern eras and continue to be fresh and attractive? How is it that these stories transcend media and are adapted to stories in updated settings and in multiple venues (written word, films, stage and radio plays, etc.)?
