Winter Wildlife Tracking Workshop with Vermont Woodlands

In this workshop on tracks and other signs of wildlife, we will investigate wildlife habitat by walking around the nature trails at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS). In addition to following trails in the snow, we will examine food sources, bedding, and edge habitat along a forest floodplain along the Ottauquechee River. We will be alert for signs of river otters, deer, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, eagles, porcupines, and many other species. Participants should be prepared for walking in snow along woodland trails that are not maintained for human foot travel in the winter. The workshop will be led by Alden Smith, Executive Director of VINS. The workshop will run from 10am-12pm, feel free to stay until 1pm for more time to socialize, ask questions and eat (bring-your-own) lunch.
