The holiday season is here, and what better way to kick it off than with your family, friends, and neighbors? Several communities in the Upper Valley are holding an event to spread the cheer.

Celebrate the Season in Hanover

On Dec. 5, the Upper Valley Business Alliance is holding its Celebrate the Season event in Hanover. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., residents and guests are invited to attend the annual tree lighting on the Dartmouth Green, followed by the Upper Valley Business Alliance’s Celebrate the Season event.

“All over town, businesses will have extended hours, special deals, and fun activities. You won't want to miss this festive kickoff to the holiday season!” the city’s website said.

Gingerbread Festival in Norwich

On Dec. 6, The Family Place is holding its free 23rd Gingerbread Festival at Tracy Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The festival will include a “Gingerbread House Gallery, filled with homemade gingerbread creations from local community members that are auctioned off to raise funds for The Family Place,” the event’s Facebook page said.

The event also includes cookie decorating, face painting, a live gingerbread house decorating demonstration, gifts for kids and families, lunch and baked goods. Learn more here.

Holiday Gift Fair in Enfield

The Shaker Museum in Enfield is holding a Holiday Gift Fair on Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Dec. 7 from noon to 4 p.m.

“Our Holiday Gift Fair spreads across two historic spaces on the Museum campus, featuring local artisans, festive food, and plenty of ways to check off your gift list,” the website said.
