7 Date Ideas To Celebrate Valentine's Day

Feb 01, 2023 02:53PM ● By Stephanie Hatley
This year, you may be wondering what’s going on in the community for Valentine’s Day. While some restaurants and venues have specials just for Monday, February 14, other locations have things going on all the time. This Valentine’s Day might just be the perfect time to try something new!

1. For the adventurous couple who enjoys the outdoors, visit the Mount Sunapee Resort for hours of outdoor fun in the snow. The lodge is open from 7am to 5pm on weekends, and the lift operates from 8am to 4pm. So the weekend before Valentine’s Day, hit a few of the 67 trails and slopes, four terrain parks, four mogul runs, or nine glades. It will be an adventure to remember!

2. For the couple wanting to enjoy the outdoors on a less strenuous level, grab your winter coats and head out to Lake Morey Resort the weekend before Valentine’s Day. On February 10 and 11, Lake Morey Resort will host a Glow Skate along the 4.3-mile Skate Trail from 5 to 8pm. Rainbows of colors will light your way for a fun evening out with your special someone.

3. For an overnight romantic getaway, book a stay at the Woodstock Inn & Resort and treat yourselves to couple’s massage at the spa. Choose a newly unveiled Legacy Suite with a master bedroom, parlor, additional seating, and wet bar. Make sure to book a Double Bliss at the spa for a relaxing, reconnecting side-by-side massage for 60, 75, or 90 minutes.

4. For the couple just wanting a simple night out without kids, head out of work early and grab drinks at River Roost Brewery before savoring dinner at Thyme in White River Junction. The brewery is open until 6pm, where you can relax and enjoy an ale with blueberries or an IPA. Then head just a couple minutes down the road to Thyme and enjoy a special Valentine’s Day menu that includes smoked salmon, ricotta dumplings, and sesame pork and ginger meatloaf. Save room for dessert with chocolate cake, apple rose, and chocolate crepes.

5. For the art lovers looking for a unique experience and not the typical Valentine’s Day dinner, book a clay date at Farmhouse Pottery. Workshops are held at 9am and 4pm daily. So book a Valentine’s Day special outing that includes a personal lesson with a master potter, wine and cheese, a wheel throwing demonstration, shipping of your artisan souvenir, and a 15 percent discount in the retail store.

6. For another unique experience, get tickets to the closing of ’Bov Water the Sunday before Valentine’s Day at Northern Stage. Watch the stories of four black women unfold as they learn about their personal histories and discover their pasts. Ticket prices range from $19 to $69.

7. For the bakers looking for a fun activity to do at home, take advantage of the Valentine’s Day specials going on at King Arthur Baking Company. The extra-special treats at the café in February include Royal Icing Hearts, Tiramisu Eight-piece Cake, Jasmine Tea Truffles (eight per package), Heart-Shaped Flourless Chocolate Cake, and Pain au Chocolat Hearts. Then meander over to the store and pick up some ingredients and baking supplies to take home. Enjoy whipping up something fancy or something simple together on Valentine’s Day night!

Whether you’re looking for something unique or just want to relax, there’s something for every couple this Valentine’s Day. But book those reservations early so you don’t miss out on a special night with your Valentine!
