To make your holiday shopping a little easier, we’ve put together a list of some of the places where you can find a gift for each special person in your life.
Thank you to Brown Furniture for sponsoring this year’s Holiday Gift Guide. Keep reading for our recommendations of where to shop for gifts in the Upper Valley this holiday season.
Best Stocking Stuffers
When it comes to holiday shopping, you can’t forget stocking stuffers! Unicorn in Woodstock offers pretty much everything you could think of . . . it’s hard to pin down their inventory into one category. From small trinkets and mementos to prank toys, home décor, jewelry, and pocketknives, you’re sure to find something interesting! In the winter, Unicorn is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 5 pm, Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, and Sunday from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. For more information, visit their website or call (802) 457-2480. Better yet, pay a visit to see what’s in stock!
Lemon Tree Gifts, located in Hanover and within the PowerHouse Mall in West Lebanon, is a go-to destination for trinkets, toys, and New England–themed merchandise. They carry everything from scarves and hats and body care products to Vermont and New Hampshire keepsakes, making Lemon Tree the perfect store to buy gifts for those who live in the area or relatives who live out of town. You’ll find all kinds of gifts at Lemon Tree, but it’s a great spot to seek out small but meaningful stocking stuffers, too!
For the Cook
For the culinary-inspired member on your gift list, make sure to stop by King Arthur Baking Company in Norwich. It’s a baker's paradise, offering every baking and kitchen gadget imaginable along with spices, baking mixes, and other shelf-stable culinary ingredients. You’ll find the basics—flour, sugar, yeast, extracts, and flavorings—along with tools like rolling pins, baking pans and sheets, cookbooks, and other kitchen appliances. Another gift idea from this location is to book a class for someone at the Baking School.
For more information, visit King Arthur’s website.
Another local favorite, Little Istanbul in White River Junction is a superior gift-shopping venue offering authentic Turkish spices and other imported merchandise. Though Little Istanbul offers great gift options for anyone, it’s a particularly good spot for someone who loves to cook and experiment with new and different ingredients, such as their Ras El Hanout and Madras Curry spices. All of Little Istanbul’s spices are available in-store and through ordering online.
Little Istanbul is open every day from 10am to 6pm. Call (802) 698-8611 for more information.
For the Traveler
Family or friends traveling to you for the holidays? Surprise them with the gift of a stay at the Lincoln Inn located in Woodstock. Voted one of ten best restaurants of 2016 by Forbes Magazine, the restaurant at the Lincoln Inn won’t disappoint, either. Lodging consists of six private second-floor rooms, with specials and packages available online.
Purchase a gift
certificate here or call the inn directly at (802) 457-7052
for more information.
For the wellness lover, consider gifting a membership to Lebanon’s River Valley Club (RVC). An RVC membership costs anywhere from $102 to $135 per month and includes access to the facility's amenities and services, such as fitness areas, swimming pools, and more. To purchase a membership, either visit the website or call (603) 643-7720 for current rates and detailed pricing information.
A gift card to Glowen Day Spa in Lyme is the perfect holiday gift for those who love wellness, relaxation, and a spa environment. Glowen Day Spa’s mission is to help clients “feel better inside and out,” focusing on healing all kinds of ailments such as blockages and skin care issues. Services range from waxing and mani-pedis to spa facials and reiki treatments. Book an appointment here or call (603) 212-8216 or visit glowendayspa.com for more information about offered services and pricing.
The Gift of Clothing
When in doubt, clothes (or a gift card to a
clothing store) are a pretty safe bet when it comes to gift giving. Socks and
underwear make a nice classic holiday present, but if you’re adventurous, shop
for a whole outfit at Indigo in Hanover. Indigo sells clothing from a variety
of popular brands, including Birkenstock, Blundstone, Canada Goose, Steve
Madden, Toms, Patagonia, Agolde, and more. You’ll find Indigo at 22 South Main
Street in Hanover, and you can reach them on their website or at (603) 643-3343.
Gifts for the Home
Maybe you have friends or family who are new homeowners or a loved one who appreciates home décor. A framed photo could be a great gift idea this holiday season!
Located on Hanover Street in Lebanon, the Gilded Edge offers custom picture framing by appointment. Since 2007, owner and artist Rob Jenisch is passionate about picture framing, a skill that he’s been perfecting for more than 20 years! Custom framing options start at $45 with optional add-ons. The shop is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and on Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm. View their gallery online and find out more about custom framing pricing here.
To set up an appointment, call (603) 643-2884.
Furnishings are a staple in any home, and they add that personal touch that everyone loves, especially when guests might be coming to visit for the holidays!
