Get Into The Spirit Of Fall With Our Apple & Pumpkin Picking Guide

What better way to celebrate fall and the harvest season than doing some of the harvesting yourself? October is prime time for picking at apple orchards and pumpkin patches, and it’s a great opportunity for some festive fall photos with friends and family! We’re lucky to live in an area that places so much emphasis on local farming and high-quality freshly grown food, so you’re in the right place to find a good spot to do some apple or pumpkin picking this fall.

We’ve put together a list of some of the best local apple orchards and pumpkin patches to visit this autumn, so head on over and get picking!

 

Poverty Lane Orchards – Lebanon, New Hampshire

Open through Halloween or later, the apple orchards at Poverty Lane Orchards are ready to welcome pickers on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 am to 6 pm and on weekends from 10 am to 5 pm.

Opening October 1, Poverty Lane Orchards’ “apple zoo” is home to a variety of apple types ready to pick at different times all throughout the fall. Pick up apple cider, pumpkins, jams, jellies, and more in the retail store.

Patch Orchards – Lebanon, New Hampshire

Patch Orchards in Lebanon offers pick-your-own apples as well as “pick out a pumpkin.” Pick-your-own hours are from 10am to 5pm daily through mid to late October. The orchards are located at 40 Patch Road, Lebanon, New Hampshire. Apple varieties in the orchard range from Honeycrisp and McIntosh to Galas, Fujis, and Empires.


Riverview Farm – Plainfield, New Hampshire

You’ll find 15 different varieties of apples at Riverview Farm in Plainfield! Open through October, you can come pick your own on Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 am to 5:30 pm. Pumpkins, gourds, and squash are also available for picking in the patch or from a prepicked selection.

Moore’s Orchards – North Pomfret, Vermont

Moore's Orchards is a local hot spot for pick your own of all kinds! Apples are ready for picking on Johnson Road in North Pomfret, Vermont. Picking hours vary and can be found on the Moore’s Orchard Facebook page. Call (802) 457-2994 for more information. Pumpkins, squash, and gourds are also available, and cut flowers, maple syrup, and prebagged apples are also available for purchase.


Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center -- East Thetford, VT

Unforutley, there is no apple picking this year at Cedar Circle, but the Pumpkin Patch is ready for you. The pumpkin patch is open for the month of October, from the 1st to the 31st.  Bring all pumpkins to the farmstand to be weighed during business hours (9–5, Tuesday through Sunday).  Price is 75 cents per pound.


Whitman Brook Orchard -- Quechee, Vermont

Not far from Woodstock is Whitman Brook Orchard in Quechee, Vermont – established in the 1920s – offering over 140 varieties of apples for picking in their hillside orchard. With fall colors all around, the pick-your-own experience at Whitman Brook Orchard is not one that you'll want to miss. Picking season starts in early September and lasts through early November, and you can visit the orchard on the weekends – Saturdays from 11 am to 4 pm and Sundays 10 am to 3 pm.
