Located in the old Freight House in downtown historic White River Junction, Elixir Restaurant is once again open for business. The popular eatery reopened on June 15 for dinner and takeout. It has been dormant since the state of Vermont’s spring shutdown order due to the departure of the former owners. In addition to its American and international cuisine, Elixir’s bar is now open for seating starting at 5 pm Tuesday through Saturday. Seating for dinner is from 5 to 8 pm. Chef and owner Christopher Brewer began the task of reopening last spring by filing for a liquor and food license, signing a three-year lease, and getting most of his employees to return. His goal was to open in early June.

“I want to thank you (the public) very much for your trust and support to make this goal,” he states on the restaurant’s Facebook page. “I worked hard these past few weeks doing all the behind-the-scenes business to get Elixir open ASAP.”

Menu starters include roasted eggplant-tomato soup, Caesar salad, Elixir salad, truffled chicken liver mousse, crabmeat-stuffed calamari, mussels, antipasto for two, duck confit–goat cheese tart, and truffled fries. Main entrees include pan-roasted Faroe Island salmon, crispy chicken thigh piccata style, cocoa-dusted petits filets mignon, vegetarian risotto, shrimp scampi, and veal saltimbocca.

“We’re proud to be in White River Junction and to receive the support from the community and beyond, which is what makes Elixir so great,” says Christopher. “Our menu features creative, approachable food, freshly prepared using local ingredients. And our wine list complements the food and will satisfy a variety of tastes. Whether you simply want to relax with a glass of wine or enjoy dinner from our ever-changing menu, we offer a warm, inviting atmosphere with friendly service.”

There is an extensive dessert menu, along with expresso and cappuccino and a selection of dessert wines. Cocktails, bottled beer, Vermont draft beer, hard cider, and bottled water are also available.

The restaurant is located at 188 South Main Street, White River Junction, VT. Reservations are highly recommended. Call (802) 281-7009, visit opentable.com/elixir, or email [email protected]
