Wheel Workshop's at Farmhouse Pottery

Mar 04, 2022 12:47PM ● By Virginia Dean

Self-proclaimed old-world potters with simple tools and strong beliefs in process and authenticity, Farmhouse Pottery founders James Zilian adhere to the belief that the core of communities is the farmers, craftsmen, and makers, that farm-to-table isn’t a foodie trend, but rather the rediscovery of a more sustainable lifestyle and value system.

Part of that tenet is that, through its craft, it is reconnecting others to this lifestyle and defining its place in the modern-day. The Zilian mission, beginning with the founding of their business in 2008, is reflected in their collection of home goods, each handmade by artisans using old-world techniques and simple tools (Farmhouse Pottery uses a custom blend of stoneware clay, developed to be as durable as possible and to align with the Zilian’s vision of simple aesthetic).

Wheel Workshops are where customers can schedule a time to work with a potter and make their own pottery. Gourmet snack bags will be available and will include Vermont Creamery cheese and crackers.

Anyone can reserve dates for the Workshop and Clay Date. Reservations are made online. Workshops are held daily at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and typically last 1-1.5 hours. Each Clay Date and Wheel Workshop is a private experience for only an individual’s party. The Private Pottery experience includes a personal lesson with a master potter to create a piece of American stoneware, a pottery workshop tour, a wheel throwing demonstration, wine and cheese, shipping for an artisan souvenir, and 10% off in one of Farmhouse Pottery’s retail stores the day of the workshop.

To finalize booking your Clay Date (or make a booking for more than two people), contact [email protected] or call 802.457.7481.
