Sep 29, 2021 02:54PM ● By Kaitlyn Malone

The pumpkins and apples are ripe for picking, and we can start indulging in the treats of the season! There is something about the changing of seasons that calls out for a resurgence to experience the flavors of the moment like peaches, pumpkin, cinnamon, caramel, maple, apple, and a marvelous reason to eat more sweets!

Here are 4 must-have fall treats to hunt down!

1. Fresh Cider Donuts

Apple cider donuts are a cake donut flavored with cinnamon and sugar, allspice, nutmeg, and apple cider! These are an iconic fall treat that are surely as much of a tradition to get as it is to get pumpkins for your porch. You can often find these scrumptious donuts at apple orchards during this time of year. One place that has them is at Patch Orchards at 40 Patch Road, Lebanon. This would be a great opportunity to go apple or pumpkin picking, try some hard cider, and get your fresh cider donut fix! See their Website here. You can also go to  Lou's Restaurant & Bakery and find them there among a smorgasbord of tasty food!

2. Apple Spice Walnut Cake

This festive apple spice walnut cake has fresh Lake Champlain apples, toasted walnuts, and a variety of spices. This tasty treat can be found at  King Arthur Baking Company. You can get the whole cake to bring home and serve to guests with some hot tea, coffee, or cider! Or, you can go get a slice with a latte at the bakeshop located at 135 US Route 5 South, Norwich, VT. This is good to eat any time of day, breakfast, lunch, snack, dessert! As the days grow colder, this cake is just the thing to warm you up. It is suggested that it pairs well with a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of honey!

3. Pumpkin Soft Serve

Enjoy some pumpkin soft serve and other fun flavored ice creams at  Ice Cream Fore-U. After watching one of your favorite fall movies like The Goonies, Harry Potter, When Harry Met Sally, or Practical Magic, what better activity to do than get some pumpkin soft serve! If pumpkin isn't your thing, though, they also have a myriad of other flavors you can try. There is a fun playground there and picnic tables, not to mention a mini-golf course right next door! And it would be a perfect family activity.

4. Mocha Joe Chocolate Cake

Yes, we can eat chocolate any time of year, but the fall is really the time when we get to start indulging in the more decadent flavors as often as we like! We have to keep ourselves warm for the winter with an extra pound or two, right?! At Umpleby's Bakery & CafĂ©, you can find their Mocha Joe chocolate cake that has mocha mousse filling and mocha buttercream frosting! I think this is definitely worth a trip to hunt down.
