The weather is better, we’ve cut our own hair, done all the puzzles, baked all the bread, and made all the pasta, so now it's time for some outdoor work. Here is your guide to the best local gardens and nurseries for those looking for another project to keep you busy.

Gardener’s Supply- Lebanon, NH.

Formerly Longacres, the Burlington-based, employee-owned company Gardener’s Supply expanded to the Lebanon location in February of 2018. The Gardener’s Supply offers everything for every gardener’s practice from plants and seeds, garden tools, planters and raised beds, grow lights, landscaping tools, garden decor, kitchenware, do it yourself food and drink kits, pickling and canning supplies, pest control even aromatherapy and at-home spa products! They also lead initiatives to support causes like Kids Youth Gardening, promoting and distributing information on pollinator protection and soil regeneration, as well as advocating for fighting hunger through their Garden to Give campaign and growing in their company farm. Gardens are currently open to the public and shipping services continue. Curbside pick up and outdoor shopping available seven days a week 10 am-5 pm. Delivery also available.


Family-owned Perennials, annuals, hanging baskets, get a head start on vegetables, herbs, or a wide variety of mix and match succulents. Offer on-site design when you bring your own window boxes and come July 1st will open the Pick Your Own Cut Flower Field until Halloween. Have eleven greenhouses. The barn where they host weddings. 8 am-6 pm. Accepts credit cards.



Cider Hill Gardens is owned and operated by Sarah and Gary Milek who built the gardens, greenhouses, and art gallery on an abandoned apple orchard in 1974. This garden specializes in growing peonies, hostas and daylilies and offers other varieties of potted perennials, herbs plant products but Cider Hill is much more than shopping, it's a whole experience. Take a stroll through the thriving gardens, check out some of Gary Milek’s hand-painted floral artwork, and pick up some plants to add to your own sanctuary. Since Cider Hill is also the Milek’s home, they are allowing visitors only by appointment on Saturdays and Sundays. Sign up for an account with SignupGenius. Payments by check or credit card only. E.C. Browns' Nursery - Thetford, VT.


Originally opened in 1967 by Elmer and Bertha Brown, this nursery is a Mom and Pop shop in its third generation focused on the underused, underappreciated and unknown plants to compliment the others of tried and true varieties for gardens. What they don’t grow they bring in from other trusted nursery friends. Plants that can withstand the Upper Valley’s hardy weather like ornamental trees, shrubs, and evergreens, fruit trees and bushes, herbaceous perennials, and flowering vines.  Operating 50 years as the Upper landscaping services as well. Monday through Saturday 8:30 am -5 pm. Closed on Sundays.
