All About the 'Grenache around the World' Wine Pairing at Simon Pearce Restaurant

Jan 14, 2020 12:41PM ● By Melanie Heisinger
Simon Pierce Restaurant has celebrated wine and food pairings with delectable results. This year is no exception!

The first event begins January 17th, though it is completely booked, and runs through May 8th.

Their Grenache around the World event, taking place February 5th, caught our eye, and we wanted to learn more. Christine Ceisler, Simon Pearce Restaurant's Assistant general manager and beverage director, told us all about their wine events, and the Grenache around the World in particular.

Can you tell me a little bit about how the Wine Events it got started?

That's a great question, and I really don't  the origins of the series, it has been established for quite a long time. Simon Pearce Restaurant has always had an amazing wine program, and it's a great way to showcase our love of wine and food pairing, and have a little fun in the "off-season". We really enjoy being able to showcase our favorite wineries and wine regions, and in this case grapes, as well as our glassware.

For the Grenache Around the World event, what can someone attending expect to experience?

For the series this year, I decided to book the wine dinners a little different than we always have.  I thought it would be fun to change it up, and focus on an individual grape, as opposed to a winery, or wine region. I talked to Ali (Alison Cheevers) about it, and she lit up! She is a fountain of knowledge, and a really great presence, so we came up with the idea to focus on Grenche from all the different regions that it flourishes. So we will be tasting and pairing Grenache and Grenache Blanc from California, Australia, Spain and France.

The Grenache event will host Alison Cheevers, of MS Walker Imports, which is exciting! Has she joined Simon Pearce before?

As I mentioned above, Ali is a fountain of wine knowledge and I love to attend tastings that she is hosting. We have worked with her a few years ago and are happy to have her back to explore Grenache with us.

Is there still reservation availability for that evening?

Yes, reservations are still available, seating is limited and we usually sell out for our wine dinners.

Is there anything else we should know about the event?

We hold our wine dinners in the Loft Private Dining Area upstairs. We have a welcome reception with hors d'oeuvres at 5:30, and then a four course dinner.

The cost for this dinner is $80 per person plus tax and gratuity.

Reservations can be made, for this event, and the rest of the series, by calling 802-295-1470 ext 3315. Take out a look at their other wine pairing events and consider attending!
