Cedar Circle Farm & Education Center

Fall is in the air and after a particularly warm summer, we are definitely looking forward to some cooler weather! Orange leaves, pumpkins, and the scent of cinnamon are just a few things to be excited about. Why not get out and enjoy?

We put together some fun things to do in the upper valley this autumn season. From corn mazes to apple picking, we've got you covered! Also, if the spooky side of Halloween is more up your alley, we have a few ideas there too.

Corn Mazes & Pumpkin Patches

It wouldn't be fall without some pumpkin! Get lost in a corn maze or pick you favorite pumpkin at one of our favorite spots this season.

Riverview Farm (Plainfield, NH)

Just a short drive away, Riverview Farm hosts a corn maze each fall season. Each year they create a story for the maze itself, and guide kids of all ages through each step of the way.

They connect with local artist Gary Hamel, who contributes paintings throughout the maze, to go that extra mile. They also have a great pumpkin patch on site where you can pick out which one you want to bring home as a victory for finishing the maze.

Stop by this season and enjoy what story they have this year!

Price: $5 per person, free for ages 4 and younger.

Cedar Circle Farm (East Thetford, VT)

(Pictured Above) Beginning with their 17th Annual Pumpkin Festival on October 13th, Cedar Circle Farm's pick-your-own pumpkin patch opens! Bring the whole family and enjoy some great food and even better music before heading out to the patch.

They are open 9am–6pm throughout October.

Pumpkin Price: 50¢ per lb
Find apples and pumpkins at Wellwood Orchards this season! You'll find an amazing selection of Pumpkins, Squash and Gourds. There is a size to suit everyone! You can also grab a basket and enjoy apple-picking on their picturesque landscape.

Catch a hay ride through their orchards, or simply grab a pumpkin after perusing what they have to offer. Sip on some apple juice, and head home. It's bound to be a day for the books!

They are open 9am-5pm daily.

Apple Picking

Apple cider, apple pie, caramel apples -- these are the simple pleasures cooler weather brings us. Here are just a few places (aside from the options listed above) to pick some apples, and maybe sip on some cider, too!

Poverty Lane Orchards (Lebanon, NH)

Mom and pop cidery Poverty Lane Orchards is here to provide ever type of apple you are craving. Sample cider and explore their wide variety of apples -- over a dozen different options!

Apple-picking from their orchards is one of the more beloved activities here. Grab a bag and pick your favorites!

Hours are 9am-5pm weekdays, and 10am-5pm on weekends.

Mt. Pleasant Orchard (Grafton, NH)

If apples are what you're looking for, this is the place to be! Pies, cider, and more fill the store at the orchard. You can pick your own apples, or select from the offerings they have. They also have an apple cheesecake this year that's worth giving a try!

Pricing:

Apple Pies - $10
Apple Pie Cheesecake Mini - $5
Large Apple Pie Cheesecake - $15

Spooky Happenings

If a spooky experience is more your scene, look no further! We've an idea for you.

Gaines Farm (Guilford, VT)

By day, Gaines Farm is a quaint pumpkin patch and corn maze during the autumn season. By night, the maze becomes a spooky place where they host Haunted Hayrides! "Vengeance in the Valley" was originally a fund raiser for an 8th grade field trip in 1994, and 6 years ago became a permanent installment at the farm. You will see some scary things, and the "scare crew" is still comprised of family, friends, and some original members. They also have Twilight Maze Walks for a different maze experience.

Pricing:

Haunted Hayride: $13
Haunted Corn Maze: $11
Combo Ticket: $22
