7 Upper Valley Shops to Load Up on Outdoor Gear and Supplies for the Spring and Summer

The Upper Valley is known for its outdoor beauty and the many activities and areas both residents and visitors enjoy frequenting all year long. As we move through spring and head toward summer, you may need to re-up on some equipment or apparel for your 2019 outdoor adventures.

We’ve got you covered. We compiled a list of seven shops throughout the Upper Valley that sell outdoor equipment to fit your needs.

 

L.L. Bean

L.L. Bean is a familiar name in the landscape of outdoor apparel and sporting goods. The franchise has existed since 1912, headquartered in Freeport, Maine, and now has more than 40 stores nationwide, plus 10 outlets.

Woodstock Sports

Woodstock Sports is a family owned business. According to its website, “In the early days, you could find almost anything you needed for local outdoor activities from equestrian supplies to canoes or fishing equipment. As the wants and needs of the community have changed so has Woodstock Sports.

“For more than 40 years the Johnston family has worked hard to provide high-quality products and service for Woodstock’s most discerning local residents and visitors alike. Today when you visit you will not only find a couple of friendly shop dogs, you will also find a focused attentive team who looks forward to helping you find that one of a kind winter coat, the perfect bike, or that grab and go hat for that unexpected early winter Vermont weather.

“Year after year Woodstock Sports has sought out unique high-quality brands that will stand the test of time. Our owners work hard to stock the store with everyday essentials and one of a kind items you would be hard pressed to find anywhere else. Stateline Sports

Stateline Sports  opened in 1983. The combined years of staff experience in the sporting goods field is a major factor in the local shop’s customer service. Stateline Sports specializes in athletic footwear, ice hockey, lacrosse, baseball, softball, soccer, field hockey, basketball, football and other team sports gear for the individual. It also performs outside sales to local public schools, prep schools, colleges, recreation departments, youth sports teams, and businesses needing sports equipment and related apparel.

Finally, focuses on the specific needs of active women, a separate space within the Stateline Sports family sporting goods complex specializes in athletic footwear, fitness accessories, basic and technical activewear, and a very extensive swim department.

Eastern Mountain Sports

Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) is another franchise canvasing multiple towns across the Upper Valley. At Eastern Mountain Sports,  reliable and functional outerwear and gear is only the beginning.

“From the product design process to expert guidance about its practical application all across the great outdoors, we share your passions – our outdoor heritage isn’t just about what we sell, it’s about who we are,” the franchise’s website says.

The store was founded in 1967 in Boston. The chain sells apparel, shoes, camping and hiking gear, watersports accessories, climbing supplies, car racks, and more. Customers can also rent kayaks, paddles, PFDs, SUPs, hiking/camping packs, tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, cross country skis and boots, snowshoes, poles, and mountaineering boots. They will also install your car rack for you.

The West Lebanon location is at the Powerhouse Mall, 8 Glen Road, while the Concord location is at Fort Eddy Plaza, 68 Fort Eddy Road. Paradise Sports

Recognized as the Upper Valley’s “friendliest and most laidback lifestyle retailer,” Paradise Sports is conveniently located in Downtown Windsor. The shop specializes in all things outdoors, including cycling, trail running/hiking, and snow sports.

There are also in-store services for bicycles and skis. For bikes, services range from a standard tune-up to a complete overhaul, plus a la carte options like tires and wheels, derailleur/drivetrain, and headset/bottom bracket bearings. Ski services include everything from a standard tune-up to a season tune package, and a la carte services include binding mounts and safety checks, and a custom iron-in wax.

Elevation Clothing

This mom-and-pop brick and mortar is located in the historic Village of Woodstock. Elevation Clothing carries stylish and quality clothing and accessories to meet the needs of active women and men, plus a limited selection of adorable clothing for kids and infants.

Hubert’s Family Outfitters

Another mom-and-pop shop in the Upper Valley,HubertsF Family Outfitters was first opened in 1972, and mainly offers quality footwear and outdoor clothing for the whole family.
