Local Spotlight: Farmhouse Pottery In Woodstock

Jun 20, 2016 03:39PM ● By Finn Mc Farland
The attractive old-world design of Farmhouse Pottery harkens back to simpler times. From the landmark Woodstock Inn to the intimate Mon Vert Café, this pottery has become popular at many of Woodstock’s eateries since the company’s beginning in 2014.

Founders James and Zoe Zilian take pride in the extraordinary craftsmanship in each and every piece made in their small workshop located just west of the village on Route 4. These unique pieces of stoneware are made by hand from materials mined in the United States. The organic milk glaze is scratch resistant, making each piece ideal for everyday household use. The durable pottery is even microwave and dishwasher safe.

Farmhouse Pottery is open for visitors to browse and purchase the simple farmhouse style pottery, as well as furniture, home décor, and accessories. The farmhouse style even extends into their workshop. Huge windows allow natural light to stream into the simple white space where visitors can watch the skilled potters. Wearing aprons and wielding delicate tools, the potters are hard at work carefully crafting new pieces at their wheels. The new stoneware can be purchased on site or online to be shipped across the world.

Farmhouse Pottery also offers three different classes for visitors to take a turn in the potter’s seat and learn about this age-old craft. The Silo Event includes a tour, a demonstration, and a personal pottery lesson. The Barn Event and Couples Clay Date offer the addition of a selection of wines and cheeses.
