With Halloween rapidly approaching, it might be time for you and your kids to scope out the trick-or-treating route! The Upper Valley and surrounding towns offer many safe places to bring your children for a fun, safe, candy-filled Halloween night.

CANAAN, NH

Tuesday, October 31, 5 to 7 p.m. Town-designated trick-or-treating hours. Canaan first responders at the Public Safety Complex (52 Route 118) will have treats for kids.

CLAREMONT, NH

Tuesday, October 31, 3:30 to 5 p.m. Opera House Square, downtown Claremont. Trick-or-treating event hosted by the Claremont Parks and Recreation Department. All ages are welcome. Free.

ENFIELD

Saturday, October 28, 3 to 6 p.m., Huse Park, 308 Route 4. Trunk-or-treat, touch-a-truck, Halloween games and family-friendly haunted house. Screening of “Ghostbusters” begins at 6:30 p.m. Non-perishable food donations will also be collected for Friends of Mascoma Food Pantry. Free. Hosted by Enfield Recreation Department and Enfield Police Department.

HANOVER

Friday, October 27, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Allen Street, downtown Hanover. Kids can trick-or-treat at businesses and vendors along Allen Street. Free.

Saturday, October 28, from 2-4 p.m., join Still North Books and Sawtooth for a pumpkin carving & decorating contest; you can find the registration link at www.hanovernh.org.

Saturday, October 28, from 7-9 p.m. will be an adult costume contest and street dancing! Get dressed up and come out for a street dance and costume contest on Allen Street. There will be music, drinks, prizes for the best costume, and more! You won't want to miss this spook-tacular evening!

Saturday, October 28, Lyman Point Park Trunk or Treat! Trunk-or-treating allows kids to have all the trick-or-treating fun without crossing streets or worrying about traffic! Come check out all the decorated cars and enjoy the Halloween spirit!

HARTLAND

Tuesday, October 31, 5 to 8 p.m., Hartland Recreation Department, 19 Route 12. Includes costume parade and contest; arts and crafts; DJ and dance; and guess the number of candles and guess the giant pumpkin’s weight contests. Free; Hot food sale benefits Hartland 7th grade class.

LEBANON

Tuesday October 31st Lebanon Fire Department Halloween open house from 5-8 p.m. There will be food, candy, and more for all. It's a great chance for you and your family to enjoy a safe trick-or-treating environment and meet your Lebanon Firefighters!

Official trick-or-treat hours are 6-8 p.m.

WEST LEBANON

Powerhouse Mall, Tuesday, October 31, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., Trick or treat at participating stores.

LYME

Tuesday, October 31, 2023 – Trick or Treat hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

NEW LONDON

Sunday, October 29 will be the town-wide trick-or-treating from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., along Main Street, Pressey Ct, and Sawyer Lane. The Witches Flash mob, Colby Sawyer Zumba Gold Class, and dancing witches are back and will be performing in the municipal parking lot at 5 and 5:30 p.m.

Lantern Led Halloween Historic Ghost Walking Tours will be available at 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 5 p.m. You will need to register, which can be done here.

Monster Bash Kid’s Dance, hosted by the Outing Club, will be at the SAU Gym from 5 p.m.–7 p.m.

Spooky Trail, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. In collaboration with New London Barn Playhouse Trail behind Kearsarge Professional Development Center, Cougar Court, New London. Younger Kids Version with no scares will be from 6-7 p.m.; older kids’ version with more scares will be from 7-8 p.m.

Again, all these activities will be on Sunday, October 29. PARKING for All Events will be all along Cougar Court, KRES-New London, and SAU 65# lots, New London Barn Playhouse (parking lot behind), Springledge Farm, after 4 PM, and First Baptist Church, after 3 PM.

NEWPORT

Tuesday, October 31, Trick or treating 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., 4 p.m. start time for small children.

SUNAPPE

The Halloween celebration will be on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Central Street!

THETFORD

Halloween at Latham Library in Thetford: Tuesday, Oct. 31, 6 to 8 p.m. Latham Library, 16 Library Road. Trick-or-treat for a book. Spooky stories are read upon request. Free.

Trick-or-Treat at the Thetford Hill Fire Station: Tuesday, Oct. 31, 6 to 8 p.m. Thetford Hill Fire Station, 2829 Route 113. Trick-or-treat safely at the fire station. Free. More information: [email protected].

Sunday, October 29, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Billings Farm, slightly spooky farm displays, trick or treating, hayrides, games, and more.

Tuesday, October 31, Trick or treat from 5-7 p.m., along School Street, Young Street, Paradise Road & Bell Street.
