Salt Hill Pub in Lebanon Celebrates Its 20th Anniversary

Jun 21, 2023 05:41PM ● By Aimee Vollmann
Salt hill Pub in Lebanon has been a beloved local chain restaurant known for its Irish-American comfort food since opening in 2003. Brothers Joe and Josh Tuohy named the restaurant after the home neighborhood of their grandparents in Galway, Ireland.

Salt hill celebrated its 20th anniversary on Saturday, June 17 with 2003-themed menu features, special pricing, and its very own Salt hill Pale Ale, as well as a live band.

Co-owner Josh Tuohy shares his thoughts regarding the past 20 years of owning and operating Salt hill Pub.

What inspired you to open the restaurant?

I grew up in a family restaurant, the Shanty in Newbury. My siblings and I grew up working there. Two of us decided to stay in the restaurant business and open a restaurant ourselves.

How do you choose your menu items?

Staple Irish-American pub food and cooking what we like and what we think the people like.

Now that the 20-year anniversary is here, what do you like to look back on?

The people and the community have been so welcoming since we opened. The town gives us energy and creativity, and I’ve loved being able to work together with my brother. But really, it’s the people’s stories and the memories that are made here. We’ve had people get married here and have seen people meeting for the first time, watched people fall in love, had welcome home parties for military personnel, and have even had celebrations of life here.

The essence of any pub is whoever is inside of it, and we have the most amazing guests. We are so thankful for how people have treated us and welcomed us into the community, and we are thankful for the support.

Salt Hill has three locations, Lebanon, Newport, and the Shanty in Newbury, New Hampshire. Be sure to check out their menu!
